Battlefield 3: EA / DICE have now admitted they have failed to stop the on going “Denial of Service Attack”.
BF3 Denial of Service Attack: After many attempts to fix this issue they finally released a statement saying they are working around the clock to mitigate the impact of an ongoing attack.
The current BF3 and Battelog outages are a result of activity that appears to be aimed at overwhelming our game servers. We are working diligently to resolve the server issues. Thanks for your patience.
