Battlefield 2 FAV: What it lacks in armor it makes up for in agility and firepower. The FAV buggy has two gunner positions, one for the light machine gun and the other for the heavy machine gun. It is not very effective against armored vehicles, but it can help clear out infantry.
During Operation Desert Storm, the US used FAVs on scout missions, sending soldiers ahead of the main army to assess the terrain and even behind enemy lines to report back on enemy strength and position. As the war progressed the FAVs proved valuable in their ability to speed around, and sometimes over, obstacles placed by the retreating Iraqi forces.
• FAV is a generic term used for many fast strike buggies made by different manufacturers and used by many armies around the world.
• One of the earlier models of FAV was the M151 which was built from 1960 to 1969 and used by all US military branches before being replaced by the HUMVEE.
