Battlefield 3 Razer Blackshark Headset Review

Razer makes some of the coolest branded gaming gear around and nearly every time they send me something else to take a look at I’m impressed.

As soon as you pull the Battlefield 3 Razer Blackshark Headset out of the box (which is very cool, I might add).

The same holds true for the Battlefield 3 Collector’s Edition Razer Blackshark Stereo Headset I’ve been enjoying for the last couple days.

You’ll notice it isn’t a familiar Razer headset.Razer and EA got together to create a Battlefield 3 specific headset and with a design pulled straight out of a jet fight cockpit and they’ve done a great job pulling it off. Not only does the set look good, you can tell right away that Razer wanted it to be built well too.

The headband, covered in leather sporting the Battlefield 3 logo, is all metal along with the fully-adjustable and detachable boom mic. The only plastic parts on the unit are the ear cups and a couple pieces that hold the bright orange cables in place. Overall, it looks and feels great.

The ear cups undoubtedly make this the most comfortable headset I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. While it may look as if they would just sit on top of your ears, the soft leather does a great job of surrounding them and canceling out the noise of any would-be distractions.

Another great feature is the removable boom mic Because this is a stereo headset and uses a simple 3.5mm audio jack to connect, it can be used for everything from PC gaming to listening to music or watching a movie on your mobile device. It comes with a simple to use, magnetic cap for when the mic isn’t in use and a mic/headphone splitter for those times when you need to trash talk fellow gamers.
